The act of mapping and aligning the 3D Modeled self-portrait of the artist burning to the Buddha statue represents the attempts and struggles of living up to the role model of the enlightened that is considered the only light that one can even sacrifice to live up to their ideal. This references the self-immolation of Thich Quang Duc, a Buddhist monk who lit himself on fire to protest against Buddhist persecution during the Vietnam War.
